Summary: The variegated String of Hearts charms with cascading vines of heart-shaped leaves edged in creamy white and blush pink, perfect for airy, elegant indoor displays.
✨ Why You'll Love the Ceropegia woodii Variegata
- Unique silver-green leaves with creamy and pink variegation
- Trailing growth ideal for shelves, macrame hangers, or window sills
- Minimal care and drought-tolerant, perfect for busy plant lovers
- Compact yet long vines create romantic boho aesthetics
- Quick stats: Vines can reach over 1 m indoors, slow to moderate growth rate
🌞 Light & Placement
Loves bright, indirect light to maintain strong variegation. Can tolerate some direct morning sun but avoid harsh midday rays. Perfect near south or west-facing windows with sheer curtains in European homes.
💧 Water & Humidity
Allow soil to dry completely between watering. Water sparingly, approximately every 10–14 days. Tolerates average household humidity, making it adaptable to most German apartment climates.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Requires a well-draining succulent or cactus mix. Ensure pots have drainage holes to prevent root rot. Repot every 2–3 years or when vines become densely tangled.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Mild toxicity if ingested in large quantities. Keep out of reach of pets and small children as a precaution.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
Propagates easily by placing tubers or vine cuttings on moist soil until roots develop. Regular pruning encourages bushier growth and fuller vines.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
Reduce watering significantly in winter months when growth slows. Fertilise monthly with diluted succulent fertiliser during spring and summer for optimal vigour.
🐛 Common Issues
Overwatering can cause root rot. Watch for mealybugs hiding under leaves. Treat infestations promptly with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
